The Railroad is Completed!

So its been about a year now since I started this blog and my garden railroad and I've got a lot to tell you about and a lot to show you (pictures)!

To start of this update, the plants successfully survived the brutal winter we had in North Carolina this year... The plants are still growing strong and I was able to plant some more recently in hopes that plant growth will start to take over the area around my track.

So as you might be able to see in the pictures above, A LOT more track has been added to the layout. In fact, I received all of the track I needed and I was able to complete the layout. Additionally, I was able to lay ballast (rocks) under the entire layout... I forgot to keep track of the number of bags I used, but I believe that it was somewhere in the high 20s or low 30s. And, I purchased a switch track and was able to add a siding onto the railroad, not that I really have a purpose for it... But, I got those creative juices flowing and did a DIY bumper at the end of the siding. It consists of 4 sticks stuck in the ground and then on stick that it zip-tied horizontally and goes across the end of the track. Look for some pictures of the bumper below!

And now, I find myself wondering what my next update might be... I am looking at maybe purchasing some more rolling stock, so if I get any, pictures will certainly be posted. Another possible update could be a video of the train making a complete circuit around the layout... Who knows! But anyway, stay tuned for an update in the coming weeks!
